Whew. So glad I got that off my chest.
I’m sorry to my tumblr followers/blog readers. I fail at this. Really fail.
Life has been so crazy this year. Being my first full year of teaching, I’m still trying to adjust to the long hours, the massive amounts of papers to grade, plus trying to find time to actually have a social life outside of my job. This unfortunately leaves little time for actual blogging. I hope you can find it in yourselves to forgive me.
I’m going to attempt to make more time for the simple things in life, such as blogging, tumblring, etc. here in the next few weeks now that I’m getting in to curriculum I’ve already taught before. Here’s to hoping all those lesson plans just make themselves…?
I would like to count up how many hours in a day I spend answering emails, grading papers, writing lesson plans, writing tests/study guides, making copies, updating grades, talking to parents, in conferences/meetings, planning the semester, updating calendars, updating classroom management, cleaning my room/straightening desks, filing papers, updating my website, monitoring study hall, serving bus duty, covering for other teachers, and every other thing I do besides actually standing up in front of the class teaching.
Because I’m pretty sure however many hours it ends up being, I should get some definite paid OT for it….
Oh, and how much of my paycheck goes back into the classroom in the form of school supplies, office supplies, workbooks, kleenex, classroom decor, furniture, lesson “extensions”, etc.
Maybe we can work that out like taxes where I get a check each year from the Oklahoma State Department of Education that partially makes up for that?
Juuuuuuust sayin….
